Il «muro dei capitelli» nelle Terme Meridionali della Villa del Casale a Piazza Armerina

This paper aims to reconsider the purpose and chronology of the late Roman «capitals wall» added to the north side of the Southern Baths at the Roman Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina (Sicily). Nine marble capitals (of Composite, Ionic and Corinthian order) were reused in this wall, built after that the Southern Baths were abandoned as a bath complex, but were still in use with other purpose. The proximity of this wall to the large warehouse building of the Late Roman villa poses some questions that will be faced in this paper.
